Hager Youssef is joining St. Paul this academic year. She was born in Alexandria, Egypt; and grew up in New York City. She has always been drawn to traveling and left the concrete jungle of New York to explore, Qatar, Dubai, Morocco, and India. She has travelled to over eight countries and wished to see more of the world.

She has recently moved to Bellingham, WA to join her husband. She’s excited to start her family in the beautiful and welcoming city. She visited Bellingham in the past and fell in love with the area. She is extremely excited to be at St. Paul’s Academy and have the opportunity to collaborate with passionate educators.

She has taught middle and high school math in New York City and Dubai at international schools. She received a Bachelor degree in Economics from Skidmore College, and a Masters in Math Education from Columbia University.

She believes teaching math is vital to students because it strengthens their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. She loves to teach math because she sees it as a universal language. Everyone speaks Math! Mathematicians in the world can communicate across centuries regardless of culture.

“The value of an education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think something that cannot be learned from textbooks.” — Albert Einstein
