Education: University of Alaska Anchorage, M.ED Educational Leadership: Principal Certification K-8; University of Alaska Fairbanks, B.A. Elementary Education K-8

Gretchen Bucsko came to St. Paul’s Academy in 2014. She grew up in rural Alaska. When she was in high school, her small town ran out of classes for her to take, so they had her work as a teacher’s aid for elementary students. It was here that her passion for working with children first developed. She went on to receive her teaching certification and degree in Elementary Education (K-8) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Gretchen taught for many years in both Maine and Alaska, primarily 1st and 2nd grades. She received a master’s degree in Educational Leadership with a principal certificate from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She served as the lower school director at Pacific Northern Academy in Anchorage, Alaska before coming to St. Paul’s Academy. She is glad to be part of such a welcoming community that truly values education. When she is not working Gretchen enjoys spending time with her husband and their Golden Retrievers, Jack and Molly, and exploring surroundings in Washington State.
