Colleen King
Art, Grades K-12
Education: Western Washington University, BA in Art Education
Colleen King is joining St Paul’s Academy as a new teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. She is especially excited to be teaching art to all of St. Paul’s students from K-12 grade. Colleen has lived in Washington all her life and was born and raised in Shoreline where her passion for working with children first started through working at summer camps and teaching dance at the local parks department.
In 2011 Colleen moved to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University. At Western, Colleen spent most of her time in the Art Department, specifically the ceramics and fibers studios. In 2014 she was awarded the Outstanding Student of the Year award by Surface Design Association magazine. She attended Woodring College of education where she spent time teaching all over Bellingham and Mt. Baker school district.
When she is not teaching she loves to pet dogs, sew clothing, cook, travel and spend time in the great outdoors with her friends and family.
A favorite quote: Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else. –Sydney Gurewitz Clemens
