Linnea McDonnell

2nd Grade Teacher

Education: Western Washington University (WWU), B.A. in Psychology; WWU, B.A. in Communications; Teaching Certificate, Endorsement in Elementary Education

Linnea McDonnell began teaching at St. Paul’s Academy in 2006. She started as a 4th grade teacher at SPA and is now teaching 2nd graders. Ms. McDonnell loves the St. Paul’s community! She loves the “family feel” and the warm and welcoming atmosphere at SPA.

Upon graduating from college, Linnea worked in the banking industry for 10 years, then decided that teaching was going to be her second and forever career! Back to school she went, knowing that she was embarking on a career that she would love!

Linnea enjoys many things about teaching, especially the “a-ha” moments that students receive when they realize something for the very first time! Read-alouds are another favorite of hers, as students stare with wide open eyes and listening ears, waiting to hear what happens next in the story! The joy of watching students learn and grow is a joy for Linnea.

Outside of school, Ms. McDonnell spends her time with family and friends. She can often be found visiting with loved ones over a cup of coffee, taking her nieces to the donut shop, playing tennis (a new hobby!), or walking at the beautiful Bellingham parks. If not there, she’s probably at the local bookstore finding that next great book, or playing “fetch” with her cat – yes, her cat plays fetch!
